Sport, reading Clive Cussler novels and sport biographies, watching the Lions play, gardening, golfing, watching his grandchildren do anything.
Shane loved a roast, a pastie made by his mother-in-law Dottie, he loved bacon and eggs for Brekky and he cooked a mean silverside. And thick soups in winter. Yum!
Play something country! Or Doctor Hook. Or that awful song about the sunken boat by Gordon Lightfoot.
Shane trained with Carlton when he was 15, but returned to Bendigo because he got homesick - as you would as a teenager. Shane made his senior cricket debut at the age of 14 and faced his first ball left-handed, switching sides as the bowler ran in. Shane worked with Aussie Rules legend, Ron Barassi for about 18 months. Shane played representative cricket for Singapore. Shane was humbled and honored to be the first Maristians cricket player inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2018.
Being surrounded by people he loved, sharing great food, a drink or two and lots and lots of talk and laughter. Dad just loved being with people.

Shane loved any sport, anywhere in the world, at any time of the day or night. He loved quiz shows and had a great mind for trivia. He was however, prone to making you think he really did know the answer to a question when he was actually bluffing. That made him a pain in the arse on trivia nights.
