Merzier's favorite things to do was to cook and make sure all of his children were well taken care of. He was a man of his word and very handy around the house. No matter what it was, he would make sure he learned how to fix things

Merzier would not eat anything else but a special Haitian dish called Lalo. It is steamed collard greens with a mix of meats, with blended beans puree and white rice. He would always get upset whenever any of his children cooked his favorite meal without inviting him over.

One thing about Merzier, is that he would always have a job. He never complained about being tired but would sometimes give us attitude if we complained about being stressed from work. He would always says, "Just Thank God that you even have a job to help you survive. Think about all that God has done for you".

He loved nothing more than his children. They were his prized possession. He would speak highly of all of his children no matter what. Merzier traveled by boat to get to the USA from Haiti because of political unrest and poverty. He knew he would be unable to care for all of his 23 children if he remained in haiti. Merzier crossed the sea illegally to enter the United States where he met his wife and the family got bigger.
Favorite place in the world
Merzier would always travel back and forth from Haiti, New Jersey, and Florida. Those were the only 3 places he would go due to his children being scattered. He would always make time for each and every one of them. Till this day we have no idea how he managed this lifestyle, but we're grateful.

Merzier leaves behind his beloved wife, Angela Decius, and is survived by his 23 children: Kettly, Nonfille, Marie-Ange, Marie-Michelle, Irelande, Charlesina, Antoinette, Tinese, Eve, Joane, Rodney, Papache, Mamoune, Isemela, Meres, Jenny, Farah, Kevin, Keson, Omar, Erick, Angele, and Sarah. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren.
