Obituary

Maxine Loe Urrutia, 79, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Maxine was born at Mercy Hospital in Nampa, ID on May 20, 1945, to a loving mother, Fronia M Loe.  She spent her early years in Seattle, WA until her mother passed away when Maxine was the tender age of 10.  She moved back to Idaho and lived with extended family until at age 11 she met OJ & Helen Harris who adopted her and raised her as their own.

Maxine graduated from Shoshone High School in 1963. Throughout her high school career, she was a cheerleader as well as an Alto in choir and enjoyed them very much. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Daniel Urrutia. They married February 23, 1963, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Shoshone.   They created a life in Shoshone and lived there for many years.  Danny and Maxine welcomed their first child, Teresa on December 12, 1963, followed by Curtis on February 15, 1966, Douglas on July 19, 1967, and Tami on November 24, 1972.  The kids kept them busy with various activities and sports; Maxine was their biggest cheerleader and supporter.  Maxine was very involved in all her children’s activities. She had a very well-rounded skill set. This involved fixing old car interiors, she helped decorating for her children’s high school homecoming activities decorating floats. She welcomed all her children’s friends as her own; they were always welcome in their home. Maxine was a natural at nurturing. When Maxine’s mother-in-law, Mildred, was sick with cancer, Maxine was one of her main caregiver’s. Mildred was a very special person in Maxine’s life.

Maxine worked at the Wood River Convalescent Center as a CNA and later as an administrative assistant.  As a constant caregiver, she touched the lives of many long-term residents.  She also worked for The Sun Valley Company for several years after her kids were grown, making lasting impressions with fellow co-workers with her daughter and her friends joining her.

Maxine loved interior decorating, home renovations, crafting, cake decorating and yard work.  It wasn’t uncommon for the kids to come home from school to a new paint color, re-arranged rooms, missing walls or new wallpaper.  She was very creative and made their house a home, full of laughter and fun. Maxine loved many things, including music, dancing and sports. One highlight in her life was seeing Neil Diamond in concert. Maxine and Danny followed all their children’s and grandchildren’s sports. Later in life, they became dedicated BSU football fans. They enjoyed watching the games together on TV as well as going to family BSU football parties. After Danny had passed, Maxine continued enjoying BSU games with friends.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Urrutia, her mother and father-in- law, Michael & Mildred Urrutia, her mother, Fronia M Loe, her adoptive parents, OJ & Helen Harris, brothers Kenneth Mack Loe, Tom Harris and Don Harris and sisters Faye Willacker & Alta Simpson.
