A devoted father, Jim cherished the moments he spent with his children: son Dan Amiday and spouse Callie, daughters Sarah Stands, Emily Iverson, and Betsy Stockdale. His proudest accomplishment was reuniting with his once estranged children, which brought immense joy to his life. He was also a loving grandfather to twelve grandchildren, including Kai, Koah, Breeze, Izack, Mason, Nicolas, RyLea, Alana, Taz, Noah, Zane, and Addison.
Jim had a passion for learning, often indulging in documentaries and science shows, with favorites including "Modern Marvels" and "Ancient Aliens." He was an avid collector of classic rock vinyl, drawn to bands like Deep Purple and Pink Floyd, and enjoyed cooking, particularly steak, spaghetti, and shawarmas, often enjoyed with a cocktail.
Known by the nickname "Street Doctor," Jim had an adventurous spirit, with favorite places including Ocean Hot Springs in Glenwood Springs, CO, Las Vegas, and the beaches in Hawaii. His love for ancient history and chemistry was matched by his fascination with the mysteries of the universe.
A memorable story that embodies his resourceful nature that occurred during his early years as a parent. When his '57 Chevy broke down, Jim found the necessary part in a field to make the repair and drive home, showcasing his knack for fixing mechanical issues.
