Janice k Battle 66, of Gulfport MS died on January 9, 2023. She was born on May 23 1956, in Gulfport MS to Dan and Elsie Jones. Janice was an accomplished dancer and musician at an early age. She started teaching dance at age 12, then she and her sister, Sharon, opened their first dance studio, LuShar’s, when Janice was 16 years old. They taught ballet, tap, jazz, and baton twirling, among other styles. She also played Cello in the Oklahoma junior symphony. Janice retired from dancing to be a loving wife to John for 39 years (until his death), and to raise her sons, Deshannon and Damon. She loved to mow the lawn, work in her flower garden, and be with family which included her dogs. Janice was known as “mom” to many of Paul’s and Grant’s friends.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers, Danny and Bobby; brother-in-law, Mike; and too many dogs to name. She is survived by sons, Deshannon and Damon and fiancee Tiffany; grandson, Jacob and wife Danielle; granddaughters, Brittany, Katherine, and Alexandria; great grandsons, Landon, Jordan, Mikey, and Wyatt; a sister, Sharon; sister-in-law, Rita; and her dog Riley.
