Donald Wayne Nicolson, lovingly known as Don, peacefully passed away on June 18, 2024, in his hometown of Portland, Oregon. Born on November 12, 1956, in Portland, Don spent his entire life in the city he called home.
Don had a genuine zest for life and enjoyed simple pleasures. His favorite pastimes included watching television and spending quality time with his beloved grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his days. Don had a particular fondness for fried chicken and pizza, always savoring these dishes with a smile on his face.
A remarkable fact about Don's life was his service as an Army Ranger. At the young age of 17, he joined the Army during the final months of the Vietnam War. Don's bravery and dedication earned him numerous accolades, including the Medal of Honor, Silver Star, and Purple Heart. His military service was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his country.
Despite his achievements, Don's proudest accomplishments were his ten children: Conner, Chad, Charlie, Carl, Clay, Clint, Curt, Corey, Chris, and Christina. He cherished every moment spent with them and took immense pride in watching them grow.
Don had a contagious sense of humor and found joy in anything that made him laugh. He particularly enjoyed watching football, passionately cheering on the Green Bay Packers. As an adoring husband, he shared his life with his loving wife, Delores Nicolson.
Survived by his sister, Joanne, Don also leaves behind a legacy of love in his twenty grandchildren: Dakota, Dustin, Dalton, Deanna, Danica, Anthony, Ashley, Austin, Arianna, Alex, Tadum, Madison, Mason, Sean, Christie, Darianna, Tayler, Scott, Arianna, and JT. Their lives were enriched by his presence and will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Donald Wayne Nicolson's life was one of honor, marked by his commitment to his family and his country. He leaves behind a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Don's memory will be cherished, and his legacy will live on through the lives of his loved ones.
