Son, Rick Evans and wife, Ramona; daughter, Patricia Chapin, daughter, Jean Jackson and husband, Russell; son, Donald Evans and wife, Victorya, daughter, Kelly Thompson and husband, Wes; and his brother, Raymond Evans. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Wife of 69 years, Norma Jean Couch Evans; mother, Ollie Lee Roland Evans; father, Karl Marion Evans; son, Raymond "Scott" Evans; and siblings, Karl Evans, Andrew Evans, Donald Evans, John Evans, Vera Bellotte, Cedric Evans, Dean Evans and Ruth Evans.
Served 20 years in the United States Army from 1949 until 1969. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and belonged to the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions. He performed over 200 jumps as a paratrooper and earned three bronze stars for his service.
Worked for the US Postal Service before retiring in 1995.
Held on May 31, at 1:30 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church, 8524 Crowder Rd, Raleigh, NC 27603. Interment, with full military honors, followed at Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens in Fuquay-Varina. A visitation was held prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful doctors and nurses who have cared for Charles during the end of his life.
