Ashbourne's favorite hobbies
Sketching: He drew all the time. On homework, on napkins, on his jeans. Mostly people. Mostly things he was too shy to say out loud. Photography: He always stole my camera. I’d find pictures of the sky, our dog, the corner of his shoes, my face when I wasn’t looking. Half blurry, but somehow… good. Listening to music: Like, constantly. Same three bands on repeat until everyone went insane. He said music made things feel “less sharp.” Making mix CDs: He’d spend way too long on them. He had names for all of them. He never explained the names. Hanging out on the roof: Mom hated it. He said the air was better up there. He liked sunsets, even if he pretended he didn’t care about stuff like that. Collecting random crap: Ticket stubs, broken bracelets, pins, keychains, dead pens, guitar picks. If you threw something away, he probably rescued it. Drawing on his sneakers: Sharpie designs. Lyrics on the rubber. Sometimes he’d give them to his friends when he wore them out. Writing in notebooks: He called it “notes.” It was poetry. He didn’t want anyone reading it. Staying up late on the computer: MySpace, forums, bad quizzes, weird chats. Half the time he didn’t even talk — just scrolled. Being annoying in a quiet way: Not really a hobby, but he did it a lot. Mostly to me. I miss it.

🍜 Instant ramen His comfort food. Ate it at least four times a week. Preferred chicken flavor but added way too much soy sauce. 🍕 Leftover pizza (cold) He swore it tasted better straight from the fridge. Jacob said that was “a crime against humanity.” 🍏 Green apples He said red ones were “liars.” (No one knows what that means but it sounded very Ash.) 🍫 Cheap chocolate bars Especially the off-brand ones from gas stations. He tucked them into his backpack “for emergencies.” 🥤 Cherry Coke His favorite drink. Warm, cold, flat — didn’t matter. 🧁 Grocery-store cupcakes You know the ones with too much icing? Those. He loved them. Ate the frosting first. 🥪 Turkey sandwiches with mustard His go-to “actual meal.” No lettuce. No tomato. No “weird crunchy stuff.” 🍟 French fries Dipped in ranch or nothing. Ketchup was “for Jacob.” 🍝 Mac and cheese (the boxed kind) Preferred the powdered cheese over the “fancy” stuff. Said the fancy stuff tasted like sadness. 🌮 Soft tacos Beef, cheese, hot sauce. Simple. Reliable. His entire personality sometimes. 🍓 Strawberries A secret favorite. He only ate them when no one was watching. 🍳 Eggs at night Never in the morning. Midnight eggs only.

Teen Titans (2003) Always said Raven “got him.” Lowkey shipped RobStar but pretended he didn’t care. 3. Danny Phantom Half-ghost main character? Yeah, of course he loved it. 4. Avatar: The Last Airbender Said he was “definitely a waterbender,” but Jacob said he was an emo airbender.
