After graduating high school, Bill entered the military and served the United States Air Force for twenty-five years.
Bill had a passion for the Lord, his sweetheart of sixty-three years, Shirley, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was extremely proud of his family. Bill enjoyed gardening, wood crafting, painting and studying the Word of God. Bill loved country and western music, if you knew him you knew that. He could always be seen wearing jeans, boots, a pearl snap shirt and a cowboy hat. Bill was most noticed for his sweet smile and the sparkle in his eyes. Bill will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Shirley, their family and friends.
He was survived by his five children; David Gilbert, Dianna Adams Gilbert, Deborah Leigh Gilbert, Daniel Gilbert, Danielle Gilbert, their spouses, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and one sister.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with the service proceeding at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 20th 2024, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Mark Crook. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park.
