William was a devoted husband to Geraldine Ann Traxler for over 60 years and a proud father to seven children: Kathleen, David, Mary, Susan, Matthew, Jean, and Nic. He cherished his role as a grandfather to seven grandchildren—Raemara Valentines, Georgia Fort, Michael, Peter, Ryan Han, Thomas, and Leah Severson—and a great-grandfather to Georgia and Arayah Hammons, Isaiah and Octavian Payne, Aliani and Akari Fort, with one more expected in 2025.

A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, William served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. After his military service, he dedicated over 30 years to his career as an airline mechanic, a profession he took pride in.

In his free time, William enjoyed working on cars and playing with children and dogs. He had a passion for history and educational television, always eager to learn more about the world. William's love for animals extended to wildlife, reflecting his compassionate nature.

As an only child, William's life was enriched by the love of his family and friends.
