His love for his family
If we were to check the logbook of William Riley Crawford’s ride on the magical highway of life, we’d find many adventures, a few detours and a couple wrong turns. He started his journey on October 8, 1962 in Brunswick, Georgia, and it was hammer down from then on until cancer forced him into the granny lane. He was a big man, larger than life, life of the party, and as he used to say he was a “purdy man” as he’d run his hands through his long hair. He was there for those lucky enough to call him brother, uncle, friend. The road was sometimes bumpy but William kept it between the yellow lines until he made it to his final stop. On August 29, 2024, William Crawford pumped the jake brake for the final time in Savannah Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents (Johnny and Harriet Crawford) and three brothers ( Paul Ray Williams, Jack Michael Williams, Giles B. Williams). He leaves behind a sister, Margie Crawford (Dennis), many nephews and nieces (great nephews and nieces) and loads of friends he called family. Drive safe in the sunset. Breaker One-Nine, Tomahawk signing out for the last time. He traveled the roads In years gone past A life he chose And hoped it would last. Driving all night From state to state Trying to get home And arriving so late. He parked his truck now His engine has stopped And those who loved him Their hearts have dropped. He traveled the country With a smile of great pride Now he drives the street of heaven On a truckers last ride.
