William H. Moore Jr. (known to all of us as Bill or Papa) was an amazing man who passed away April 27th 2025 at his home in Hopkinsville, KY. He departed this world at 7:32 in the evening surrounded by his wife and children.
Bill was an Army Veteran who served in Vietnam and the Gulf War. He retired with 22 years of service, making many friends, and leaving a lasting impact on many Soldiers through his decades of service. Along this path, Bill and his family lived in multiple states from Virginia to Alaska, and lots of spots in between. Everyone knew he loved his country, but he loved his family more than anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mildred Moore; his sisters Barbara Stanley and Myrtle Anderson; and his son David William Moore.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Saul Moore (who he loved with a passion); his children (who he considered his greatest blessings) Christina Schmid Moore, Tonya (Mark) Payton, Lesley (Dave) Hanak, Nathan (Chelle) Moore, Amy (Joe) Hall. *It is important to note that his children describe him as the best human who will ever walk this planet).
He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren: Joy, Tracy, Ashley, Amber, August, Nicholas, Olivia, William, Jaxson, Camille, Rylee, Landon, Kadie, Allie, and Baleigh; and three great-grandchildren: Brody, Addie, and Sophia.
For those family and friends in Virginia, a written Obituary will be posted in the Roanoke Times in the Wednesday, April 30th 2025 version of the paper. It will also be available in their online edition and archive for future reference.
