William (Bill) Laird, born on April 17, 1958, in Edmonton, AB, Canada, passed away on November 15, 2024, while at the U of A hospital Edmonton, AB. Bill was a beloved husband, father, and friend, known for his infectious spirit and deep love for his family.
Bill devoted 42 wonderful years to his wife, Cheryl, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. He was a proud father to Steven and Abby, who he cherished immensely. Steven, along with his wife Britney and their children Deklan and Aubree, and Abby, along with her partner Alex, were a source of immense pride and joy for Bill.
A man of many interests, Bill enjoyed football, golf, his yard, constructing additions, fences and all thing wood. He found happiness in visiting friends, attempting his luck with the lottery, sharing turkey dinners, BBQ, and roast beef with Yorkshire pudding. His love for sports extended to football, baseball, and hockey, often reflecting his passion during Monday night football.
Bill had an interesting sense of humor and was known for his signature short stature and great hair. He was a local minor football and baseball coach, giving back to the community and nurturing the next generation of athletes. His favourite tunes included the Highwaymen and The Band, and he had a soft spot for classic movies like "McLintock!"
Bill's proudest accomplishments were his family and children, and he often shared his philosophy on life with a simple, "What the Hell." His favorite place in the world was somewhere warm, and he had a special connection to his home in British Columbia and the cabin at the lake.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, remembered for his love, laughter, and those cherished moments spent together.
We'll plant real trees for you in William (Bill)'s memory and display your contribution forever.
