Wilbur James Loy, affectionately known as Bill, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born on February 9, 1934, in Youngstown, Ohio, and most recently resided in Temperance, Michigan.
A proud graduate of Youngstown State University, Wilbur served in the Army before embarking on a successful career as a manufacturers representative. He owned his own business, exemplifying his entrepreneurial spirit. Wilbur was married to his beloved wife, Donna, for 68 wonderful years, and together they created a loving family. He is survived by his children, Jim Loy (Kim Knoernschild) of Clinton, Tennessee; Jack (Beth) Loy of Sylvania, Ohio; Jill (Garry) Netter of Toledo, Ohio; and Jenny (John) Welch of Fort Worth, Texas. Wilbur was a proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren and cherished his 11 great-grandchildren.
Wilbur's passions were many, with fishing, boating, hunting, and traveling among his favorite pastimes. After retiring, he spent 20 blissful years living on Mullett Lake, Michigan, a place he loved deeply. He found immense joy in spending time with his family, often in beautiful settings by the water. Wilbur also enjoyed reading, cars, and watching history documentaries, and he was known for his hilarious sense of humor that brought laughter to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice. Wilbur will be remembered for his loving spirit, commitment to family, and the joyful memories he created throughout his life.
