WD Johnson, born William Delbert on June 6, 1939, in Minnesota, passed away on September 12, 2024, in Harshaw, Wisconsin. He was a devoted father, husband, and family man who touched the lives of those around him.

WD dedicated 35 years of his life to working at the Papermill in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his colleagues. In his personal life, he enjoyed many hobbies, including golfing, sharing Sunday breakfast with friends, and observing the wildlife around his home. His love for nature was a cherished part of his life, as was his fondness for his cat, which brought him immense joy and companionship.

Family camping trips were among the daughters’ most meaningful memories of their father, a time when he shared his love for the outdoors with them. His passion for the Green Bay Packers and his preference for watching CNN 24/7 at decimal 100 were well-known among friends and family alike. WD often spoke fondly of his favorite place, Alaska, where he felt a deep connection to the wilderness.

He is survived by his oldest daughter, Paula Rood, and his younger daughter, Tina Johnson, as well as his cousin, Carl Cook. WD’s warmth, humor, and loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that his family will hold dear forever.
