Wanda Lee (Huana) Harrison
1950 – 2024

On March 26, 2024, my amazing mother, Wanda Lee (Huana) Harrison, passed away. She was born in 1950 to Paul Harrison Sr. and Dorothy (Faurie) Harrison in Alice, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Paul Harrison Jr. and Wayne Harrison; her sister, Patricia Middleton; her brother-in-law, Charles Middleton; and her niece, Jennifer Slafter.

Wanda is survived by her sister, Debbie Slafter, and Debbie’s husband, Ronald Slafter; her sister, Ruth White, and Ruth’s husband, Randy White Sr.; her sisters-in-law, Mary Harrison and Sheila Harrison; and her beloved son, Jason Harrison. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews: Randy White Jr., Teresa Keller, Laurie Lawrence, Sam Middleton, Robin Middleton, Leslie Middleton, Annie Slafter, Michelle Sainio, Becky Oberosler, Christopher Harrison, Curtis Harrison, Cody Harrison, and a multitude of other treasured family members and friends.

Wanda spent her childhood and teenage years in and around Taft and Houston, Texas. She worked at Fox Studio in Houston and at the Helena Motel. After having her only son, Jason, Wanda moved to Ouray, Colorado, where she worked at the Ouray Café. During the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s, she lived in various parts of Colorado, including Longmont, Redstone, Parachute, Montrose, and Carbondale. She held jobs at places like Mountain Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator and at the Russell Stover Candy Factory.

In 1992, Wanda and Jason relocated to Washington State, where she worked in the dietary department of Island Hospital and at several nursing homes throughout Skagit County. In 2003, she realized her dream of owning her own home in Mount Vernon, WA. However, in 2009, Wanda suffered a debilitating industrial injury, making daily life increasingly difficult. In 2017, she sold her beloved home and moved in with her son in Concrete, Washington, where she resided until her passing.

Wanda found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved fishing with her mother and sister at Miramonte Reservoir in Colorado and camping at Silver Jack Campground near Ridgway, CO. In Washington, she enjoyed taking the ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor or Victoria, BC. She was also fond of playing bingo at the local casinos. Wanda loved traveling with family to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico; San Francisco; and along the Oregon Coast. One of her favorite stops was Wolf Haven in Tenino, WA, where she delighted in watching the wolves. She also found great happiness being around children, whether they were family or friends. Though she was shy about it, she loved singing and dancing—when no one was watching.

Wanda was loved deeply by everyone who knew her. Her kindness, humor, and warmth will be missed by all.

Wanda was cremated at Evans Funeral Chapel in Anacortes, WA. In accordance with her wishes, no memorial service will be held. If you would like to honor Wanda, please consider donating to one of the following organizations:
