Walter Mitchell SR, 55, died February 8, 2023, with his family by his side in Jacksonville, Florida.

A memorial service was Monday at Evergreen Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Florida.
He was born May 27, 1968, in Belleville to Charles and Phoebe Mitchell. His father was a Factory Worker in Belleville. His mother came up from Augusta as a Teacher.  They moved to Jacksonville in 1975.

Walter spent summers at his grandparents in remote areas of the forest and wilderness. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1986. He attended college at the University of Florida, where he met and married Joann Snow. After graduation, they returned to Jacksonville. Mr. Mitchell was an Accountant while his wife was a Homemaker.

He was an active member of Philippian Community Church, and worked with various charities.

His hobbies and interests included family, fishing, watching football and cooking. He devoted much of his time and energy as the “handyman” to family members, including him building his first grandson’s crib.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his Wife, Joann Mitchell; brother, Christopher Mitchell; 2 sons and their spouses, Walter and Latoya Mitchell Jr,  Keith and Ashley Mitchell; 1 daughter and her spouse, Kayla Mitchell and Jaynae Blake; and 2 grandchildren; Lily Mitchell and Keith Mitchell Jr.
