Walter Lee Smothers, affectionately known as "Sunny," was born on September 20, 1934, in Gadsden, Alabama. He peacefully passed away on December 13, 2024, in his home in Florida.
Sunny dedicated much of his life to his work as an orderly in a hospital in Brooklyn, New York, where he was known for his caring nature and unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. He often shared his favorite motto, "I'm alright," which reflected his positive outlook on life.
He was married to Clara Smothers, and together they raised five loving daughters: Geraldine, Tracey, Kris, April, and Val. Sunny took great pride in his family, and his daughters remember him as a devoted father who always encouraged them to pursue their dreams.
Sunny is survived by his sisters, Beverly King and Linda Smothers, his niece Vita, Gloria and lots of great nieces and nephews and three of his daughters, Geraldine, April, and Val. He will be remembered for his passion for fishing, a hobby that brought him joy and countless cherished memories with family and friends.
