He lived in Singapore, lived in Manila Philippines where he met his wife Haidee and they married August 17, 2012. Very politically opinionated. Proud American. Supported the second amendment. Loved dogs currently owned two Buster and Jack
Restoring old cars, listening to music, visiting friends, visiting family that lived out of town. He especially enjoyed going to Snowball Arkansas where he had fond memories of his Uncle Buster who had newspaper articles written about him due to his size 42 shoe. Buster’s feet measured 16 inches long, 8 inches wide and 26 inches round. Busters middle toe had a circumference of over 5 inches and traveling
Old Westerns especially if they had John Wayne in them.
Wichita State basketball, KU basketball, Royals Baseball and his favorite football team was the Kansas City Chiefs. Enjoyed watching NASCAR racing.
Walter Franklin DePriest, born on June 18, 1948, in Wichita, Kansas, passed away on October 31, 2024, in his beloved hometown. Walter, affectionately known as Frank, was a proud American and a devoted Christian who cherished his family and friends.
Walter’s life was enriched by his love for old cars, which he passionately restored and showcased at car shows. He had an eclectic taste in music, enjoying the sounds of the Beatles, Journey, Elvis Presley to name a few and his local favorites like “Across The Pond.” His appreciation for live music was matched only by his love for American and Mexican cuisine.
In addition to his hobbies, Walter had a keen interest in politics and was known for his strong opinions, particularly regarding the Second Amendment. His adventurous spirit took him around the world, including time spent living in Singapore and Manila in the Philippines, where he met and married his wife, Haidee, on August 17, 2012.
Walter has a surviving daughter, Carmen Oropesa (Matt), Carmen has a son Cristiano Morris, and Cristiano had a daughter Nadine Morris. He is survived by his siblings, Ronald (Vann), Connie Thomas, Joyce Penrod, Alta Jones, and June DePriest, along with numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Taylor Sr. and Verna, and his brothers, John Taylor Jr. and James.
Walter had a special fondness for visiting Snowball, Arkansas, where he made cherished memories with his Uncle Buster, who was known for his unusually large feet. He enjoyed watching old Westerns, especially those featuring John Wayne, and was a loyal fan of Wichita State basketball, KU basketball, Royals baseball, and his favorite football team Kansas City Chiefs.
Walter enjoyed watching NASCAR especially Chase Elliot and Daniel Suarez.
Walter’s two dogs, Buster and Jack, brought him joy, as did the many friends and family members he visited throughout his life. His vibrant spirit and passion for life will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
