Obituary

In the early afternoon on Saturday, February 1, 2025 the angels of heaven came to carry our beloved Walter Clayton Hardy home to his eternal rest. As his wife Marie held his hand, his children and grandchildren read one of his favorite passages Psalms 23 and sang Precious Lord as Walter made a peaceful transitioning.

Walter was born on November 27, 1948 to the late Elder Elmer and Evelyn Hardy. He was enlisted in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. After his discharge from the armed services, he worked for the United States postal service. He later worked for Hajoca plumbing company for 39 years until he retired. He found the love of his life Marie or what he affectionately called her "Ree Bob" all it took was one party, one dance and one song "Just Keep On Trucking Baby." It was love at first sight, a love story that turned into 51 years of marriage.

Walter loved working on cars, building projects doing anything he could put his hands on he could do and fix anything. From turning a riding lawn mower into a go-cart for his oldest grandson , to taking the top shed of his truck and turning it into a sand box for the his Buddy “grandson”. He loved people and anyone he met was never treated like a stranger. He had the most welcoming loving and giving spirit towards anyone who crossed his path. He was a man of faith who trusted and believed strongly in the Lord, every opportunity he had he talked about the goodness of Jesus, the importance of being saved and knowing the Lord for yourself. Walter truly loved God and it showed.  He was a true laborer in the harvest of the Lord. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father, best friend to his grandchildren, father figure to the neighborhood children and a dependable brother, uncle and friend. Walter was loved and respected by many people. He will forever be cherished and remembered by so many ways.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and John Hardy. He leaves behind a legacy of love and life cherished by his wife Marie "Toni" Hardy -His children Jataun, Jamise, Tamara and Tavenia Hardy(all of Roanoke); Grandchildren, Deonta Hardy, Breonna Hardy, Mychea Watson, Shamera Hardy, Dylan Butterworth,
