Vernon Howard Farrington, age 59, was born to the late parents Judy and Vernon Edward Farrington in Chicago, Illinois. He was the only born child of this union. Vernon resided in Chicago his entire life. He graduated from Mendell Catholic High School in 1981 and started his own family in the same home. Never venturing far from his family home in Chicago he began his career with Chicago Transit Authority in 2005 as a Switchman where he was employed for over a decade. Vernon loved working at Chicago Transit Authority and took pride in wearing his uniform and transporting vehicles that transported civilian on a day-to-day basis.

Vernon enjoyed fishing, model cars, Star Trek and Seinfeld. Vernon’s spiritual journey was fraught, and therefore a daily struggle. As a young man, he was baptized, at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church, and acknowledged and new the presences of God. He later parted ways with organized religion, but he never left behind the teachings of Christ—he was a principled man of integrity always in search of the truth. In his final years, he deeply contemplated his life and faith, and came full circle in his beliefs and recommitted himself to Christ.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Edward and

Judy Farrington, grandparents Jerome and Mary Ware. He is survived by daughter Aquiel Basia Regina Farrington, estranged wife Tammie Newman, cousin Lea Nicholes-Gonzales, Eric Nicholes, Chi Chi Nicholes along with Lea son Juan Gonzales.

Aquiel” Baby girl” as he would call her, was his entire world, gave him strength during the rough times, laughter and joy during the other. His family and friends will hold dear the stories and will remember the gesture of the “middle finger” which would make a point to show them that he loved them.
