Vergie was united in marriage to William Howard in 1969, and together they raised four children: Rokaya (Steven), William (Kimberly), Kenya (James), and Krystal Ann, along with her legally adopted daughter, Soranikki Howard.
A dedicated member of the Word of Faith Christian Ministry, Vergie accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. Her career in the medical field began as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1973, and through hard work and dedication, she became a Registered Nurse in 1986, graduating as Salutatorian of her class. She spent many years serving patients at the City of Detroit's Herman Kiefer Hospital.
Vergie loved to travel and explored many parts of the world, including Italy, Spain, Turkey, the Bahamas, Hawaii, Africa, and Israel. She was a woman of many hobbies, enjoying cooking, theater, craftsmanship, and writing, and she had a deep appreciation for music, with favorites like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Tina Turner.
A proud mother, grandmother, and aunt, Vergie is survived by her cherished grandchildren: Jazmine, KC, Layla, Destiny, Breanna, CJ, Brandon, Julian, Kennedy, and James. She also leaves behind her brothers Joseph, David, and Daniel Moton, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Vergie was known for her compassionate and caring nature, her intelligence and warmth, and her ability to uplift those around her.
Throughout her life, she inspired many with her kindness and leadership, particularly in her roles as a community health nurse and entrepreneur. Her legacy will continue to live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared with her family. Vergie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Rest in Heaven, dear Vergie.
