Ursula Allen-Betton, lovingly known as Lynn, passed away on May 21, 2024, at the age of 72 in Houston, TX. She was born on April 25, 1952, in Nassau Bahamas, and was the 4th child of Wilford & Joanna McKinney. Ursula is survived by her mother( Joanna McKinney), as well as her siblings Garnett McKinney, Laura McKinney, Lothario McKinney,and Enid Thomas. She was preceded in death by her father Wilford I. McKinney,her Husband John Betton Sr., 4 brothers Tyrone McKinney, inny McKinney, Albert McKinney, Wilfred McKinney Jr., 2 sisters Floy Evans, and Pamela McKinney, and 2 grandchildren Alexis Betton, Jeremiah Marks.
Ursula dedicated her life to being a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. She found joy in helping others less fortunate and was always willing to go out of her way to ensure their well-being. Her defining traits of kindness, love, and care left a lasting impact on the lives of those around her.
Professionally, Ursula was a dedicated teacher who shared her knowledge and inspired countless students. She took pride in her role as a teacher and cherished the accomplishments she achieved throughout her career.
Ursula was married to John Betton Sr., and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and happiness. They raised Six children: Felicia McNeal (Kevin McNeal), Keema Betton(Kim Tennyson),Kenroy McKinney (Jackie McKinney), Kaleena Betton, Johnny Betton, and Jamal Betton. Ursula was also blessed with 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who brought immense joy to her life.
In addition to her family, Ursula made significant contributions to her community. She was actively involved in feeding the sick and shut-in with food from the food bank, demonstrating her compassion and commitment to helping those in need.
Ursula's favorite hobbies included watching wrestling and the cooking channel. She had a passion for cooking and enjoyed preparing delicious dishes such as corn beef and peas and rice, red beans and rice, mashed potatoes with gravy, strawberry milkshakes, and vanilla ice cream, and bread pudding.
Ursula's strong faith led her to convert to Seventh-Day Adventism when she married John Betton. Her spirituality played a significant role in her life and guided her actions.
Ursula Allen-Betton will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire others for generations to come.
There will be a Viewing from 9am-11a, and the funeral service will follow from 11:30a-1p.
