He was married to Gabriela Thomas on April 4th 1982. They separated in 2003.
Urs Thomas, born on January 22, 1954, in Rümlang, Switzerland, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, in Port Clements, British Columbia, Canada. He immigrated to Canada in 1995, where he became a beloved figure in his community, serving as the mayor of Port Clements and making significant contributions, including bringing cellphone service to the area.
Urs was known for his love of the great outdoors, spending much of his time fishing and hunting. He had a passion for cooking, particularly his favorite dishes of halibut curry and smoked salmon eggs benedict. Urs cherished his time with his dogs and found immense joy in being surrounded by family. He is survived by his partner, Diana Kidd, his children Marlene Rindlisbacher-Thomas, Sybille Martin-Thomas, and Benjamin Thomas, and his six adoring grandchildren, Ava, Tayo, Tony, Ryan, Evan, and Liara.
He is also survived by his siblings, Rolf, Astrid, and Theo Thomas. As a proud owner of the Golden Spruce Motel and an active member of the Sport Fishing Advisory Board and the Rod and Gun Club, Urs exemplified community spirit and leadership. His greatest accomplishment was building his own house, a testament to his dedication and skill.
Urs will be remembered for his warm personality, love of nature, and the friendships he cultivated with people from around the world. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life.
