Tonya Marie Butzke LaPlant, born on September 17, 1974, in Houston, TX, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, in The Woodlands, TX. Known affectionately as Aunt Tonya, Sister, Mom, and Baba, Tonya was a loving mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family.
Tonya shared a special bond with her daughter, Ashlei LaPlant, and together they reveled in their love for Chinese food. Becoming a mother in 2000 was one of her proudest accomplishments, and she embraced the role with warmth and dedication. In 2020, she celebrated another milestone when she became a grandmother to her beloved grandson, Leeland Stutes, with whom she loved spending time.
Tonya was known for her infectious smile and laughter, easily lighting up any room she entered. She enjoyed watching Family Feud, cheering on the Houston Texans, and listening to her favorite band, New Kids on the Block. Her favorite place in the world was surrounded by family, creating cherished memories with her loved ones.
In addition to her family, Tonya was committed to giving back to her community, participating in MS charity events and helping to feed the hungry whenever she could. A Christian at heart, she believed in the importance of love and kindness, often sharing her favorite saying: "Life’s a dance you learn as you go, sometimes you lead and sometimes you follow."
Tonya is survived by her daughter, Ashlei LaPlant, and son-in-law, Alec Stutes; her grandson, Leeland Stutes; her brothers, Bobby Butzke and wife Rhonda, Brian Butzke and wife Angie; and numerous nieces, including Rilee, Emma, Maddie, Deborah, and Jace, as well as nephews Cody and Cullen.
Her legacy of love, compassion, and laughter will continue to inspire all who knew her.
