He lived by the saying "home is where you lay your head"
That first cup of coffee!
He would rescue stray animals without reservation
In the woods, in nature
Love you!
Thomes David Alvira, age 70, passed away Saturday January 28, 2023 at his residence in Warren, MI.
Born May 13 1952 Thomas is the son of late José and Nicolasa Rembao. He spent most of his life between Monroe, Wayne, and Macomb counties, where most of his family resides.
As a young man, Thomas served this country in the armed services through the Army, afterwards he enjoyed the freedom of travel and did quite a bit throughout the US.
Thomas will be remembered as a man who enjoyed being near family. His many stories of his travels and adventures were enjoyed by his sisters, nieces and nephews.
"Uncle Tom", as he was affectionately known as by many, had a great love for nature. He was the outdoorsy type, and could often be found sitting in the sunlight or, in his younger years, hiking. Along with nature, Thomas loved animals, and even though he'd say he doesn't like cats, there was usually one nearby that loved him.
His love for music will be well remembered. He liked all sorts of music but especially enjoyed classic rock and reggae.
Many enjoyed Thomas' lively personality which came out the most around bonfires and at barbecues. And everyone knew he was having a great time by his well known and random shouts of "Oye!"
In addition to his parents, Thomas was proceeded in death by his brother Anthony (Tony) J. Alvira, his sister Elizabeth (Eva) Morden, and his nephew Miguel Zavala.
Thomas is survived by his daughter Angela, and son Lucas, his sisters Gloria Zavala, Socorro Rios, Felipa Bomia, Josephine Skinner, Theresa Burke, Helen Garrett, and his nieces and nephews, Carlos, Rosa, Delia, Manuel, Stevan, Adelaide, Barbara, Kathy, Michelle, Lisa, David, Sonya, Anthony, Melissa, Eva, Joseph, Christopher, Danielle, Jonathan, Jacob, Joshua, and many great (and great-great) nieces & nephews.
Thomas will be missed and we all take comfort in knowing he has had the most wonderful reunion with those who went before him.
At his request, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Paralyzed Veterans of America in memorial of Thomas Alvira
