Obituary

Terry Matthew Runyon, a beloved husband, father, uncle, son, cousin, brother, and friend passed away at the age of 48 on April 5, 2025 in Oswego, Illinois after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 25, 1976 in Columbus, Georgia to Diane (nee Van Buskirk) Walker and Terry F Runyon. Terry Matthew leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Terry Matthew is survived by his loving wife Lindsay R Runyon (nee O’Neill), his children Kiara N Runyon age 27, Madison A McCabe age 16, and Tyler M Runyon age 7. He is also survived by his parents Diane and Mark Walker and Terry and Valerie Runyon. His siblings Amy (Eric) Patch, Carolyn (Gregory) Miller, Kelly (Gregory) Nehring, Brittany (Jake) Tudorica, Cody Walker, and Derick (Johnna) Bockman. As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was also a cherished best friend to his cousin Scott (Kristen) Runyon.

Terry Matthew is proceeded in death by his Grandparents William and Nancilee Van Buskirk and Gilmer (Fred) and Naomi (Carolyn) Runyon. He is also proceeded in death by his step brother Scott Bockman.

Terry was a man of many passions and hobbies. He was an avid enthusiast of RC Cars, his salt water fish tanks, and always found joy in watching the car races with his dad. His favorite hobby was to build and work on his massive train landscape in his basement with his HO Scale trains.  But more than anything, Terry valued his time with his wife and his three children, whether traveling, memorable road trips with Kiara and his dad, watching Madison in her plays and musicals, or cheering Tyler on at all his sporting events. His family was his everything.

Terry loved working with his hands. Out of high school he found himself interested in becoming an electrician. He would finish his apprenticeship and was an electrician for most of his career until a work injury prevented him from continuing to work. While he wasn’t working as an electrician, he became an amazing stay at home dad.

Terry Matthew’s legacy will live on in the memories of those who loved him. His passing leaves a void that can not be filled, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and his memory will be held close as a reminder of the beauty and strength that can be found in each moment of life.
