Worked on a Georgia plantation and retired as manager of Clarendon Plantation in Beaufort, SC in 2013. Also served in the Army National Guard and retired as a Captain in 1993

Survived by his wife, three children, stepdaughter, mother, four sisters, six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews
