Sylvia Wiley, affectionately known as "Syb," was born on October 31, 1963, in Chicago, IL, where she spent her life dedicated to her family and community. A registered nurse and family nurse practitioner, Sylvia touched countless lives through her compassionate care and commitment to health.
Sylvia was a vibrant soul with a deep passion for jazz music, which resonated through her life alongside her love for gospel and the timeless tunes of Barbra Streisand. She found joy in cooking, bowling, and reading, often delighting in her favorite dishes, including crab, lobster, and Japanese 5 Wagyu steak.
Family was everything to Sylvia. She cherished her son Steven, bonus son Warren, and stepdaughter Amber, along with her beloved grandchildren. Sylvia also held dear her siblings: her sister Loretta Wiley-Harper (Edward), twin brother Sylvester Jim Wiley of Suwannee, GA, and oldest brother Sylvester Johnson, along with her niece, Summer Wiley-Brown (Brian). She was preceded in death by her parents, Joan and Sylvester Wiley, and her sister, Lacy Liane Wiley.
Sylvia had a whimsical side, having once dreamed of becoming a nun in her youth. Her favorite moments were spent in the company of family and friends, with whom she shared laughter and love. She enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, including "Parish" starring Troy Donahue and "General Hospital." A devoted basketball fan, she was always ready to cheer on her favorite teams.
Sylvia's legacy will live on through her many nieces and nephews—Rafael Wiley, Jasmine, Joshua, and Faith Harper, as well as Briana and Brian Jr. Brown—who will always remember her warmth and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
