Brother Stephen (Steve) Douglas Pirtle
Stephen Douglas Pirtle was born on the 29 th day of June, 1961 in the
city of Brownsville, the state of Tennessee. His parents are Lovelace Pirtle,
Jr. and Jeanette Anderson Sharpe. Steve was reared by his paternal
grandparents, Lovelace Sr.and Lela M. Pirtle. He departed his earthly life
peacefully on September 3, 2024 with his daughter by his side.
Steve accepted Christ at an early age at the Willow Grove M.B.C. in
Brownsville, TN. He later became a member of Mt.Zion Baptist Church
where Bishop Joseph W. Walker is senior Pastor. Steve subsequently
became a member of Mt. Moriah in Nashville with Al Robinson is Pastor.
Steve graduated from High School and joined the USA Navy. Upon
an Honorable discharge, he became a correctional Officer in Nashville, TN
where he lived all of his adult life. Steve had a jovial personality and could
hold conversation with ease. He studied at TSU, received both a BA in Social Work and
later an MA in Special Education. During this
era, he met and married Elizabeth Binelle Conley. To this union, one
daughter was born, Leslie Chinelle Pirtle. He was a proud member of the
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He was employed by the Metropolitan
Nashville Public School System as a Special Education teacher at Cane Ridge
High School in Antioch, TN.

Pirtle, Nashville, TN; Milton(Karen)Pirtle, Nashville, TN; Jerry Sr.(Margaret)
Pirtle, Nashville, TN; One God son, four God daughters, four nephews,
seven nieces, innumerable cousins, extended family and friends. Steve
was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Binelle Conley Pirtle and his
loving paternal grandparents, Lovelace Sr. and Lela M.Pirtle.
