Steve spent his early years in Sitka, arriving with his mother via Grummon Goose to be welcomed by his father, Bob Petro, grandparents Andrew and Tillie Hope, and his big sister. Throughout his life, he cherished the memories of fishing the waters of Sitka and exploring the roads by car. He was an avid motorbike rider, often seen cruising through town with his beloved dachshund, Oscar, nestled in the basket.

A true sports enthusiast, Stephen enjoyed watching football and baseball from the comfort of his home, embracing the thrill of being an armchair athlete. He also had a knack for cooking, delighting in whipping up quick meals featuring his favorite peppers with cream cheese, while leaving the baking to his wife, Pam. His love for food led him to frequent his favorite Mexican restaurant in Port Orchard.

Stephen was a man of many hobbies, finding joy in gardening, hunting, and the simple pleasure of watching TV sports. He will be remembered for his kindness, adventurous spirit, and the love he had for his family and his pets.
