Sophia Vance, known affectionately as Elly, passed away on December 31, 2024, at the age of 94. She was born on June 21, 1930, in Gallatin, TN, and was a longtime resident of Detroit, MI. Sophia was a beloved member of her community and was dedicated to standing up for what she believed in.

Sophia's proudest accomplishments were her children, Dana Vance, Felicia Vance, Tommy Vance, and William Vance. Being a mother brought her immeasurable joy, and she cherished every moment with her family. She was also blessed with nine grandchildren: Alana Vance, Sarah Vance, Shelley Johnson, Jasmine Johnson, Lisa Vance, Taylor Smith, Antonio Smith, Tommy Vance, Jr.

Sophia had a strong work ethic and was always there for those around her. Her sweet nature and genuine desire to ensure everyone's happiness made her a cherished friend and family member. She lived by the motto "Be grateful for everything you have" and truly believed in the power of gratitude.

Sophia's unwavering faith was an important part of her life, as she loved GOD deeply. Her spirituality guided her through both joyous and challenging times, providing her with strength and comfort.

She leaves behind her parents, Sadie Vance and Harvey Vance, as well as a host of relatives and friends who were touched by her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love.

Sophia Vance will be dearly missed but always remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the lasting impact she had on the lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
