His painting abilities and his love for a great get together, telling stories or playing games, fishing, handyman, computer whiz, pool player, games, music. Being involved in Alzheimer’s society, ponderosa day group, minds in motion.
We learnt everything about him and his journeys of his lifetime from being a choir boy in the church, owing his own cab, marrying the girl of his dreams, owning an electronics repair shop, having 3 wonderful children, immigrating to Canada, immigrating to New Zealand and owning his own company again, coming back to Canada, becoming part of a church family at cleopas Anglican Church , owning a farm and playing with the farm animals, overcoming health issues, becoming a grandpa and helping raise his two grandchildren Samantha and Joanna. Losing his beloved sons, Travelling down south for winters with the love of his life. He worked with some great companies in his lifetime doing the best job ever, making lifetime friends and sharing his joy and love.
His friends will remember his amazing voice, his loyalty to friendships, his caring compassionate, funny personality and his love for telling such amazing stories. His painting abilities and his love for a great get together, telling stories or playing games and smiling so affectionately that you just felt amazing being around him
Dad would take me fishing but I’m not sure if he really liked to because he never caught any fish and I caught them all. Teaching me to drive and doing wheelies In the car park. Having amazing themed parties with all his friends to show his love for them and he loved having a great time. Purchasing a duplex together to help raise his grandchildren. Being a wonderful husband to his wife of 60 years. Excepting and loving my new husband Dave and step grandchildren Gabriella and Tyler. Loving immensely his great grandchildren Lukas, Charlie, Liam and Willow. I will miss him calling me Curly, his love and hugs and the way he used to make me laugh until the tears rolled down my cheeks. His wisdom and kindness.
James Frances Mitchell, beloved son, brother, dad, papa, great papa, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on September 16, 1942, in Rochford, Essex, UK, James lived a life rich with love and adventure, ultimately making his home in Kamloops, BC, Canada.
James was a man of many talents and interests. He was an accomplished painter who found joy in creativity, and he cherished gatherings with family and friends, often filled with stories, games, and laughter. An avid fisherman, handyman, and computer whiz, he also enjoyed playing pool and listening to music. His commitment to community was evident through his involvement with the Alzheimer’s Society, Ponderosa Day Group, and Minds in Motion.
Reflecting on his remarkable life, friends and family remember James as a choir boy who grew into a successful entrepreneur, owning a cab and later an electronics repair shop. He was a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart for 60 years and a proud father of three wonderful children. His journey took him from the UK to Canada and New Zealand, where he founded his own company before returning to Canada and embracing the community at Cleopas Anglican Church. James also enjoyed the joys of rural life, owning a farm where he delighted in spending time with the animals.
James faced challenges with resilience, overcoming health issues while dedicating himself to family. He was a loving grandpa who played a pivotal role in raising his two grandchildren, Samantha and Joanna, and he welcomed his son’s new family with open arms. His love extended to his great-grandchildren Lukas, Charlie, Liam, and Willow, who brought him immense joy.
He will be fondly remembered for his amazing voice, loyalty, compassion, and humor. Friends often recalled his knack for storytelling and how his infectious smile made everyone feel special. James created unforgettable memories through themed parties and cherished family gatherings, always prioritizing enjoyment and togetherness.
James is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with numerous friends and relatives who will forever miss his warmth and wisdom. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished moments that will be held close to their hearts.
