Camping, observing nature, fishing, quilting, crochet, ceramics, painting
Shirley June Nixon, born on June 17, 1929, in Oakland, California, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, in Magalia, California. A woman of many talents and a spirit deeply connected to nature, Shirley enjoyed camping, observing wildlife, fishing, quilting, crocheting, ceramics, and painting. Her love for the outdoors was matched only by her commitment to kindness, exemplified by her favorite saying: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Shirley was married to Mark Payne, who preceded her in death two years ago. Together, they shared a life filled with adventure and love. She is survived by her four children: daughter Linda Rose, daughter Sue McClinton, daughter Carol Nixon, and son Wayne Nixon. Shirley was also the proud grandmother of four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
One of her proudest accomplishments was her remarkable encounter of holding a bear, a testament to her adventurous spirit. Shirley's legacy of love and creativity will be cherished by her family and all who knew her.
We'll plant real trees for you in Shirley's memory and display your contribution forever.
