Shirley Diane Edwards, affectionately known as Di Di, was born on January 29, 1949, in Sarasota, FL. She passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, in Philadelphia, PA, where she had most recently resided.

Shirley was a beloved mother to her daughter, Maria Kym Edwards, known fondly as Kim. She was a dedicated professional, having served as a supervisor at a women’s clothing store and as a pharmacy technician at Sun Ray, where her warm personality and ability to connect with people made her a cherished member of the community.

Shirley enjoyed many pastimes, with watching television being her favorite. A true lover of food, she delighted in all types of cuisine. Music, particularly oldies, filled her home with joy, and there was nothing she loved more than spending time with her family, who were her greatest treasure.

Shirley is survived by her sisters, Carol Walker and Gloria Peel, and brother-in-law Reuben Peel. She also leaves behind nieces Kenya, Ayesha, and Nyesha, along with a host of great nieces, nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Shirley embraced each day with enthusiasm and lived it to the fullest. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
