Shirley Burton, 90, passed away on February 26, 2025, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Born on October 30, 1934, she spent her life surrounded by the people she loved.
Shirley was a talented artist who found joy in painting. She also enjoyed playing slot machines, reading and cherished every moment spent with her family. Her love and her stubborn and sassy personality left a lasting impact on those who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Susan Uffner, John Burton (Ellen), and Joe Burton (Sarah). She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who will carry forward her memory. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Burton, as well as her daughters MaryAnn Cosgrove, Julie Burton, and Sheryl Rodgers.
A prayer service will be held in her honor on March 22, 2025, at St. Peter’s Cemetery Chapel, located at 6933 Lemington Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15206. The service will begin at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, Shirley’s family requests that donations be made to the Pittsburgh Center for Arts to support their children’s programs. Contributions can be made at [https://secure.qgiv.com/for/pgd]
