He had a lifelong passion for drag racing, and was nationally known as one of the best super stock drivers of all-time. After retiring to Florida in 1998 he developed a love for the ocean, taking many boating and fishing trips.
Sherrill started his entrepreneurship at a very early age. At 17 years old he bought a sunoco gas station in Lebanon junction, that led to numerous other endeavors which ultimately paved the way to owning/operating one of the largest ambulance services in the state of Kentucky. In 1988 he purchased Ohio Valley Raceway which his family still owns currently. In 2013 Sherrill along with son Billy were inducted into the Kentucky Motorsports Hall of Fame.
His beautiful wife Toni of 50 years, his amazing son Billy, and his love for drag racing.
Sherrill loved having his friends over every Sunday to watch NASCAR races
