Sharon Lynn Gabler née Williams, born on January 8, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, at 3:00 AM, at St. Tammany Hospital in Covington, Louisiana. She was a devoted mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known affectionately as Sissy and Maw Maw.
Sharon dedicated 21 years of her career to D&M Enterprise and spent an additional 15 years at Fred's in Franklinton, where she made lasting connections with her colleagues and the community. To Sharon though, her most important job was being a supportive and loving momma. She had a passion for being creative, writing poetry, songs and funny stories, painting, and trying new recipes. She found joy in making realistic looking wax candles, cooking and baking for her family and friends. She was devoted to her faith and church. Sharon was very excited to have met two recent accomplishments, being baptized again with Savion, and having a song she wrote ("Sinners Prayer") fully developed and recorded.
Music was a significant part of her younger life, with her favorite artist Elvis. She also loved her oldies but goodies collection. Sharon was a staunch supporter of the New Orleans Saints, sharing her enthusiasm for the team with those around her.
Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her great-grandson, Savion, whom she loved to share stories about. Sharon is survived by her children, Kurtis Gabler Sr. and Candice Gabler; her grandchildren, Gerald (Rai Lynne) Delaune Sr., Keith Delaune, Sheryn and Stefanie Hurt, Kurtis Gabler Jr., Ashley Dunn, Desirae Gabler, Edward Gabler Jr., and Analise Gabler; and her great-grandchildren, including Gerald Jr., Justin, Shelley, Andre and Savion Delaune, Ashton Hurt, Shane Thomassie, Aryelle, Christopher and Jaxon Kelley, Jessielynne Hebert, Madison, Bailey, Raelynn, and Liam Dunn, Michael Jr., and Charlie Melancon, Emerson and Ellie Gabler
Sharon is survived by her loving siblings, Diane Williams, Cynthia Hurt, Lynn (Kathy) Williams, Susan Gros, Pamela Cotton, Charmaine (Jay) Manieri, Tammy (Mark) Shaddinger, and Tina Zeller. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Sharon is predeceased by her children Shelley Gabler Delaune and Edward Gabler Sr., her parents Lynn John Williams and Dorothy Neumann Williams, and her granddaughter Izabella Olivia Ledet
Memorial service will be held on Jan. 2, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at UPC of Mt. Hermon (located at 37300 Sunny Hill Rd., Mt. Hermon, LA.) with fellowship afterwards. Graveside service to be held the following day on Jan. 3, 2025 at Westlawn Cemetery in Terrytown, Louisiana.
