Spending time with family and friends, playing the piano, painting, gardening, and caring for others.
Sharon Maughan (née) passed away unexpectedly on 7 August 2023 at the age of 55.
Daughter of William Rex Maughan and Julia Marie Smith Maughan. Youngest sister to Sheila, Sandra, Diane, Mary, Janet, Karen, Myrna, Judy, Bill, Shirley, Joanne, John, and David. Auntie to too many to count!
Much loved mother of Brittany, Cassandra, and Emma. Caring grandmother of Audrey, and a supportive friend of many.
Sharon, or Sherry/Sherrie as she was sometimes known, grew up and went to school in Ronan, Montana. She later went on to live in Polson, Montana and Kamiah, Idaho.
As a child, Sharon spent time playing in the forest and creeks behind her family home and enjoyed swimming in the nearby canal. Like many in her family, she was very musically talented - especially when it came to the piano. Sharon is well known for her memorised mastery of Flight of the Bumble Bee at the age of 12, as well as her ability to play by ear. Sharon was also a talented seamstress, sewing her own clothes from an early age.
Sharon went on to meet her first husband, Eric, when she was young and soon give birth to her eldest daughters, Brittany and Casi.
Sharon was very hardworking and smart, and graduated from high school with Honours, which she managed while caring for two young children. She also had a surprising quick wit and giddy sense of humour that could sometimes catch you off guard!
Eric and Sharon raised Brittany and Casi in Polson, Montana. Sharon was an exemplary young mother and wife, and passed on many of her skills and talents to her daughters. She is fondly remembered as a best friend to her daughters, especially during their teenage years. Other memories include Sharon sewing through the night to create Christmas quilts, dolls, and stuffed animals for her daughters and local fundraisers.
During this time, the family worked as caretakers and Sharon soon discovered her ability to quickly master a range of skills associated with building and property maintenance. She inspired others with her creative flower gardening, self-developed pianist skills, as well as her mental and physical toughness. She never complained and was able to work hard for long periods of time.
Following this time, Sharon would go on to move to Kamiah, Idaho where she would re-marry to Woodrow and give birth to her youngest daughter, Emma. There, Sharon established an amazing home and garden. She enjoyed sharing and preserving what she grew with her family, including her sister, Sandra. She also learned how to paint and went on to produce and sell countless canvases, as well as paint a large mural for a nearby business.
Sharon was again an exemplary mother and wife, caring for Emma and also Woodrow in his final years. Memories during this time included spending a lot of time in the garden, planting flowers, and travelling to attend Casi's graduation.
Through her many gifts and willingness to share them, Sharon truly enriched the lives of those who knew her.
Although taken before her time, Sharon's beautiful smile and heart-warming laughter will live forever in the hearts of her daughters, family, and friends.
