Shannon Marie Barnett was born on September 9, 1971, in Paris, Illinois, and passed away on October 3, 2024, in Mattoon, Illinois, where she had most recently resided. She was a dedicated homemaker who later became a Mediate Assistant at a local doctor’s office before serving as the Client Services Director at a pregnancy center, positively impacting the lives of many in her community through her compassionate work.

Shannon was married to her husband, Harold Matt Barnett, for 33 wonderful years. Together, they created a loving home and nurtured a close-knit family. She is survived by their daughter, Heather M. Barnett of Mattoon, and their son, Jacob M. Barnett, along with his wife, Charissa Barnett, of Columbus, Ohio. Shannon cherished her role as a grandmother to Conri, Remus, and Merlin, who brought her immense joy.

She is also survived by her mother, Carolyn Queen, of Mattoon. Shannon was known for her warmth and kindness, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her genuine spirit and unwavering support fostered deep connections, and she will be remembered fondly by all whose lives she touched.
