Sgt. Perry Thomas Shields passed away on April 21, 2025 at Cox Health Medical Center South, Springfield, MI. He was 62 years old. He was born to the late Spencer and Nancy Irving Shields on December 11, 1962 in Wayne County, Detroit, Michigan.
He attended Louisville High School in Winston County, Louisville, MS. At an early age he accepted Christ and attended Mt Moriah Baptist Church. He also attended Bossier City Community College and Eastern State University.
Answering to the call of his country he served in the United States Air Forces from December 27, 1983 till August 21, 1992 and was discharged with honors and distinction. Sgt. Shields was employed with the Airway Height Correction Center from October 12, 1992 until February 28, 2025 upon his retirement of 32 years 5 months. Perry loved nothing more bowling with his friends and shooting his many of guns with his family and friends.
In March of 1985 he was united in holy matrimony to Vivian M Davis Shields until March 2020. Perry had 4 children
He leaves to cherish his loving memory; the mother of his children Vivian M Davis Shields, (2) daughters LaKedia Davis, Conswela (Jay) Thomas, (2) sons LaPerry (Danielle) Shields, & RaKeem Shields of Round Rock, TX, (4) beloved grandchildren: Keiara, Shajayla, Paityn, & Kemani. He is also survived by his sister Naomi Bell, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family.
