She loved anything she didn’t have to cook! When you called her you stood a good chance of catching her at a drive-thru mid order. She loved Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden etc.. We laughed when we saw she had almost as many restaurant contacts in her phone as she had family and friends.
We truly believe she could have been a detective. When Stephanie first met Bruce Sandy dug up things about him even he had forgotten lol. But fortunately he was a good guy and got a thumbs up. She had her ways lol.
God, her family and friends. She was so happy for her son Donnie and daughter Stephanie when they finally met “the one” that made them truly happy. She was able to see them both marry and be truly happy. She loved getting together for family meals, laughing and talking. She loved her prayer group, her family brought together by the Lord. Pastor John and his wife Barbara and everyone in the group meant the world to her.
She loved visiting Southport and spending time at the beach. She loved eating at Fishy Fishy and shopping the local shops.
American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Greg Gutfeld, Netflix.
Sandra Tilghman Sasser, lovingly known as "Bam" to her grandchildren, passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2024, at the age of 78. She was born on March 5, 1946, in New Bern, NC, and most recently resided in Burlington, NC.
Sandra had an adventurous palate and thoroughly enjoyed dining out. She adored indulging in meals at various establishments such as Cracker Barrel and Olive Garden. She loved eating at Fishy Fishy when she went to the beach . Her restaurant contacts in her phone were almost as numerous as her cherished family and friends.
Above all, Sandra held a deep love for God, her family, and her friends. She found immense joy in witnessing her son Donnie and daughter Stephanie find their life partners. Seeing them marry and truly embrace happiness brought her great delight. Family meals filled with laughter and heartfelt conversations were some of her treasured moments. Sandra also found solace and companionship in her prayer group, a gathering of loved ones united by faith. Pastor John, his wife Barbara, and all those within the group held a special place in her heart.
In her leisure time, Sandra enjoyed watching American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Greg Gutfeld, and shows on Netflix. Among her loved ones, she was affectionately known as "Dr. Google" due to her constant research on various subjects. She possessed a wealth of knowledge and always offered words of caution and advice, whether solicited or not. Beginning many sentences with "Well you know I read…," she shared her insights with enthusiasm. She also loved visiting Southport, spending time at the beach and shopping the local shops.
Professionally, Sandra held administrative positions at the Office of the Governor and various departments within the University of NC. Her last position was with the City of Burlington in the water department.
Sandra's proudest accomplishments were her children Donnie and Stephanie, her grandchildren Taylor Blair (Stephanie), Stone Sasser (Donnie), Tye Sasser (Donnie), and Maci Sasser (Donnie). She was deeply devoted to her family.
Sandra is survived by her sister, Dixie Fossum in Virginia, sister Pat Ipock in Texas, her son Donnie Sasser (Cindy Sasser), her daughter Stephanie Sasser Rakfeldt (Bruce Rakfeldt), and her grandchildren: Taylor Blair (Stephanie), Stone Sasser (Donnie), Tye Sasser (Donnie), and Maci Sasser (Donnie).
