Sandra Jean (Ellefson)McCoy passed away peacefully at home, following an illness, on Friday, March 29, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Sandy ws born on June 7, 1951 to Junice (Ellefson) boisinger. She attended high school in Lansing, Iowa & graduated from St. George High School. She married Ronald Smerud, & the couple had a daughter, Kelly.They later divorced. Sandy worked in housekeeping at Veterans memorial Hospital in waukon for a time.After that she worked at Wal-Mart in Prairie du Chien, WI. and retired from there. She met Robert "Bob" McCoy, and they were married on December 31,1999 in decorah, Iowa.
In her free time and after she retired, Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family. She looked forwqrd to the holidays and enjoyed preparing holiday meals. She loved visits from her family and helping out with her great grandchildren. She also liked to spend time visiting with friends, and really looked forward to Monday night Bingo. She loved to listen to music, especially Little Dale in the mornings on KNEI, and was always up for a card game. A favorite past time was feeding and waqtching the birds and squirrels that came to visit her on the deck.
Sandy is survived by two brothers, Raymond "Butch" (Pam) Ellefson of Prairie du Chien, WI. and Charlie Ellefson of Lansing, IA. and three grandchildren, Jeremy (Jenny) Waters of Lansing, Josh Waters of Waukon and Kayla Waters of Waukon. Also by nephews, Dave Ellefson of Lansing and Dan Ellefson of Milfodd Ohio, two nieces, Amy (Josh) Bahnsen of Monona, Ia and Nicole (David Mills) Ellefson of LaCrescent, MN; seven great grandchildren, Brayden, Mason, James, Kaylee, Capri, Breck and Dallas; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Junice; her daughter Kelly Smerud Deeney, her brother Richard Ellefson, two grandchildren; Justin and Jessica Waters, and her husband Bob.
