Sam Striggles, aged 85, passed away on August 12, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Born on March 14, 1939, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Sam was a beloved figure in his community and a dedicated family man.

Sam spent a significant part of his career as the Head Coach at Dillard High, where he was not only a mentor but also a role model to many young athletes. His coaching style was as much about shaping character as it was about sportsmanship, reflecting his hard-working, family-oriented nature.

Known for his sense of humor and love for life, Sam was an avid sports fan and found joy in various hobbies. He was a master of the grill, a seasoned traveler, enjoyed playing pool, and was passionate about horse racing. These activities were among the many facets that defined his well-rounded personality.

Sam was a devout member of the New Hope Baptist Church, where he found great solace and community throughout his life.

He is survived by his children, Virginia, Ronald, Gary, Phillip, and Oasie Striggles; and grandchildren, Kevin, Stephanie, Katrina, Nicole, Danielle, Natasha, Tureo, Crystal, Omar, and Junior. Sam was preceded in death by his children, Michael, Sharon, Brenda, and Mitchell Striggles.

The Pickens Funeral Home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is overseeing the arrangements. Sam’s life and legacy will be honored in a ceremony that reflects the great love and respect he garnered throughout his life. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
