Ruby Monroe, born on October 21, 1930, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away due to heart failure on October 11, 2004, in Hollywood, California, at the age of 73.
Ruby's life was marked by her vibrant career as a singer and actress. She began her singing career in 1938 and graced the silver screen in 80 films over five decades. Her final film, "The Great Wiggly Caper," completed filming shortly before her passing and is set to be released posthumously on October 15, 2004.
She married Jack Dodds on October 4, 1953. They shared three children, Mary, Victoria, and Ernie, before Jack's untimely death on June 2, 1962. Ruby is survived by her children: Mary, born on October 21, 1954; Victoria, born on July 16, 1957; and Ernie, born on December 4, 1960. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack, and her parents, Dolly and Harold.
Ruby's funeral and memorial service are scheduled for October 12, 2004, with her burial following on October 13, 2004, at Combre Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made by supporting the release of her final film, "The Great Wiggly Caper." Ruby's remarkable spirit and contributions to the arts will be remembered and cherished by her family, friends, and fans.
