Ronald Andrew Jackson was born in Washington, DC on May 6, 1959, the third of six children to the union of parents Eleanor Elaine (née Fortune) and Andrew Lewis Jackson. He departed this life on Friday March 29, 2024 at the age of 64 years.

Ronald’s primary education began at St. Thomas Moore Catholic School. He later attended Ballou Senior High School, graduating in 1977. While committed to learning, Ronald always knew how to balance work and play. At a young age, he developed many leisure interests, including art, combat movies/shows and sports. He also showed a heartfelt appreciation for music and games, relaxing as he blasted old school R&B throughout his West Virginia home or playing for hours as he enjoyed time with online bid-whist friends.

Ronald enlisted in the United States Navy after high school. He proudly served for a decade as an aviation electronic technician., crossing oceans while assigned to the USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65) and USS AMERICA (CV-66). Ronald's passion for sports and exploration crossed during this time. Residing in Jacksonville, Florida, he actively participated in football for the Navy. Receiving an honorable discharge and retiring from the US Navy in 1988, Ronald transitioned his electrical expertise to a new role as an electrical technician at the United States Postal Service, where he dedicated himself until his retirement in 2018.

Throughout his life, Ronald developed numerous friendships and remained connected to his family, regularly checking on relatives, near and far, with a call on birthdays, holidays or for no particular reason at all. He hosted gatherings during which he would eagerly share his sports insights, his review of a newly visited restaurant or a comical joke. When he was unable to leave his home as often, Ronald virtually attended events including church services at Alfred Street Baptist Church (Alexandria, VA). Even as his health declined, Ronald's humor, strong will and faith in Jehovah God kept his spirits high until his passing.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Elaine and Andrew Jackson, brother, Anthony Jackson, niece, Andrea Jackson, aunts, Mary Vincent and Miriam Fortune, and uncles, Lloyd Fortune and Herbert Powell.

His family is left to cherish his memory: His siblings, Tina Jackson, Roger Jackson Sr. (Yvonne), Julie Jackson, David Jackson (Karla), and sister-in-law Peggy Jackson (brother Anthony). His nieces and nephews, Robin (Darius), Kimberly (Andrew), Sade, Jasmin, Camay, Parris, Roger Jr., Nathaniel, Matthew, Kennedy, Khamani, Ayanna, Amare, Lailah and Omari. His aunts and uncles, Jean, Mary, Beryl, Virginia, Russell, Judy, Curtis Vincent, Sr. and a host of other cousins, family and friends. Ronald will be deeply missed.
