Romeo Rodriguez Ramirez, lovingly known as Papi Chulo, passed away on June 10, 2024, at the age of 81. He was born on October 27, 1942, in Mercedes, TX, and most recently resided in Corpus Christi, TX.
Romeo had a wide range of hobbies that brought him joy throughout his life. He could often be found engrossed in a good book, casting a line while fishing, or engaging in a friendly card game. He also had a green thumb and took great pleasure in tending to his garden. Romeo's creative side shown through in his crafting of keychains and his talent for puzzles. He found immense entertainment in watching TV, particularly football, and playing board games with his loved ones. Collecting recipes and trying out new dishes were also passions that he cherished. Not to mention, he had a special fondness for a piping hot plate of Roland's enchiladas, accompanied by his favorite hot sauce.
Romeo's musical taste gravitated towards the enchanting sounds of Jorge Negrete and traditional mariachi music. He appreciated the beauty of these melodies and felt a deep connection to them.
Known for his warm and helpful nature, Romeo was always there to lend a hand to those in need. He had a wonderful sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. Romeo truly valued his family above all else, and their presence brought him immeasurable happiness.
Parkdale Library, Golden Corral, Whataburger, and Dairy Queen held a special place in Romeo's heart, as he cherished the memories made in these beloved establishments.
Romeo attained a Masters Degree and dedicated himself to the field of teaching. His commitment to providing for his family was one of his proudest accomplishments.
Romeo leaves behind his loving spouse, Amparo Ann Ramirez, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He also leaves a beautiful legacy through his children and grandchildren. Raquel Ramirez-Olivarez, married to Roland Olivarez, has four children: Skyla Ann Ramirez, Rolando Olivarez, Randy Olivarez, and Abby Olivarez. Rebecca Castro-Lowe, married to John David Lowe, has two daughters: Miranda LeeAnn Castro and Madison Reese Lowe. Romeo Ramirez, Jr., married to Amanda Ramirez, has four children: Dylan Sanchez, Brooklyn Alexis Ramirez, Bennett Riddick Ramirez, and Barrett Hudson Ramirez.
Intelligent, loving, and funny, Romeo Rodriguez Ramirez will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
