Roberta Rae Howell, affectionately known as Bert, was born on April 12, 1968, in Houston, Texas, and passed away on October 24, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. She was a vibrant spirit who lived life passionately and fearlessly, bringing joy to everyone around her.

Bert had a love for dance, often seen twirling in the dark with her glow-in-the-dark tambourine. She was known for her feisty, determined nature and her unwavering commitment to helping those in need, especially when it came to cats. Her dedication to cat rescue earned her a special place in the hearts of many, as she tirelessly worked to assist anyone facing feline-related challenges.

A college graduate, Bert wore her accomplishments proudly, including her time as house mom for Club One. She was also a beloved waitress, where her upbeat personality shined. Her favorite pastimes included playing dress-up, thrifting, and indulging in her favorite foods such as her brother's barbecued ribs, Italian cuisine, and Mexican dishes. Music was a significant part of her life, with artists like Tracy Chapman and Amy Winehouse providing a soundtrack to her spirited personality.

Bert’s family was her cornerstone. She is survived by her loving mother, Rose Howell; father, Bob Howell, and his wife Peggy Honeycutt Howell; siblings Raymond Howell and wife Michelle Anderson, along with their children; and her sister Ramona Schott and her children. Bert’s love for her family was unconditional, and she never hesitated to be by their side, especially during difficult times.

With a heart for the underdog and a bulldog tenacity, Bert made an impact on everyone she met. Her favorite place in the world was the SPCA, where she found solace and joy among the kittens. She believed in the motto, "Tomorrow's a new day," embodying a spirit of hope and resilience.
