SSG (Retired) Robert L Moore, Jr. 76 (formerly of Albany, Georgia), a proud veteran of the Unites States Army, answered the final call of God to welcome his servant home at his residence in Lawton, Oklahoma on Saturday, October 19, 2024 with his family by his side.
In 1969 Robert married his beloved high school sweetheart and best friend, Nellie, with whom he shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. To this union two sons were born, Robert Lee III and Undrey. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Essie Mae Chambers (reared as her son), sisters-in-law; Annie (Davis) Murphy; Doshia (Davis) Woodson; brothers-in-law; Clarence Murphy, Rethine Davis, and Albert J Davis.
Robert (affectionally known as “Scacey”) was born on November 19, 1947 to Orie Dee Warren and Robert Lee Moore (“Honey Moore”) in Sasser, Georgia. He attended the public school of Terrell County. At an early age, he joined Mt. Mary Baptist Church in Sasser, Georgia. After graduation, Robert enlisted in the United States Army and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He retired after 20 years of service. Throughout his many travels around the world, he learned the value of hard work, love of family and remaining humble. Robert was an unpretentious man who loved life and never complained about things he could not control. He was a kind individual who always had a smile or laugh to share with others. In his spare time, you could find him welding and making barbeque grills for family and friends. He loved watching old time western movies and daytime soap operas.
Those left to cherish his precious memory include his wife, Nellie (Davis) Moore; two sons, Robert L Moore III and Undrey (Tineshia) Moore; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grands; one sister, Brenda Gilyard, Albany, Georgia; one loving Aunt, Susie Mae Tumblin, Albany, Georgia; two brothers-in-laws; Freddie L Davis (Jewel), Dawson, Georgia; Harold J Woodson (Mattie), Albany, Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
