Robert Francis Finn, known to many as Bob, passed away on June 15, 2024, at the age of 88. He was born on August 10, 1935, in Springfield. Robert had a fulfilling life and will be remembered for his many passions and accomplishments.

Robert spent the majority of his life in Plainville, where he thrived as a health inspector and registered sanitarian. He took great pride in ensuring the well-being of others and making a positive impact in his community.

Outside of work, Robert had a wide range of hobbies and interests. He had a love for sports, particularly golf, baseball, and UConn basketball. He was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed collecting coins. Robert also enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or simply appreciating nature.

Family was important to Robert, and he cherished the time spent with his loved ones. He was a loving sibling to Patricia Ernest and Reverend Raymond Finn. Robert is survived by his children, Christine Finn Yurko, Patrick Finn, and Micaela Rae Fitzsimmons. He was also a proud grandfather to Nicholas Finn Yurko, Catherine Frances Yurko, Michael Foy Fitzsimmons, and Elizabeth Lee Fitzsimmons.

Robert attended Hillhouse High School in New Haven, CT, where he excelled as a diver, becoming the Connecticut State High School one-meter springboard diving champion in 1953. He continued his athletic pursuits at Quinnipiac College, where he achieved remarkable success. Robert served as the three-time captain of the baseball team from 1957 to 1959 and was also the captain of the basketball team in 1959. He led Quinnipiac to the SNECC Championships in both basketball and baseball, leaving a lasting legacy. In recognition of his outstanding athletic career, Robert was inducted into the Quinnipiac University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983.

Robert's friendly nature and love for game shows made him a joyful presence to be around. He particularly enjoyed watching Jeopardy and various other game shows. Additionally, he had a deep passion for various sports, including MLB baseball, college basketball, swimming and diving, the Olympics, and NFL football.

Above all, Robert found immense joy in playing golf, spending time in his garage playing cards, and supporting his grandchildren's sporting endeavors. His warm smile and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his remarkable achievements, Robert was a loving son to Catherine Moriarty Finn and Daniel Francis Finn.

Although Robert's physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the memories and hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
